Some suggestions that may assist you in preparing your CV: -
- Use spell check
- Position required or previous position held
- Personal details , give as much detail as what you are comfortable to share.
- Qualifications , state the date of completion, institution, qualification name, including schooling.
- Relevant Courses attended, state the date of completion, institution, course name
- State your actual position held, don’t inflate your positions held, everyone must start somewhere, if your CV shows your first ever position held in your construction career was as a Project Manager, Site Agent or General Foreman then there is a problem! Red flag
- Projects worked on, try to list contracts that you have worked on under each employer. It gives prospective employers an idea of what your expertise may be or how you could add value to their upcoming projects.
- Dates worked at the specific employers.
- Make sure references are contactable and relevant, try to supply details of a manager that you reported to, the CEO or HR Manager wouldn’t really know what happened on your project or your workspace (unless it’s a small operation)
- Be honest regarding reasons for leaving, makes it easier.
- Don’t over inflate your current salary or expectations, we all want to improve our income, but be realistic.
- Try not to manufacture the information on your CV it will could come back to bite you.
